The "C" word has reached our lives....

Hello family and friends. Thank you for visiting the "Go Fund Me" page that we have set up on behalf of husband, Armando Figueroa.

Armando has been ill for over a year, this started with a foot ulcer last year (June of 2023) which quickly became an urgent issue needing surgery. This also resulted in a huge work-up to control of his A1C and his diabetes. He was hospitalized last year in June, and his diabetes has been under control since. However, many other issues have arisen. Constance stomach issues, uncontrolled coughing to name a few. He has missed a lot of work, and often going to work because he needs to.

Since March of 2024, we have noticed a significant amount of weight loss, the picture I have included is from January 2024, and he had already lost some weight which he attributed to constant coughing due to allergies and the diabetic medication.

He finally saw an allergist in April due to the cough, and skin rash. He was given various allergy medications. He went back to the allergist and was referred to a dermatologist who ran a complete panel to find out what causing the issues he was experiencing. His PCP reviewed the blood work results and noticed abnormalities. Armando was urgently directed to go to the ER. A CT scan has found tumors both in the colon area and liver. We were informed by the surgeon that he has Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer metastasized to the liver. His oncologist at Banner has seen him as well with the diagnosis and plan to beat this cancer, He starts with Aggressive Chemotherapy beginning Monday, July 8th.

Armando is the man I met in the second grade , grew up with and was lucky enough to marry. He is the man who stepped in and stepped up to help me raise Lazaro. He is a simple man, works hard, super talented and truly loves his entire family. A faithful and very prideful man who is a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Mother of Sorrows. He worries about how we will survive while he is not able to work during the upcoming treatments, the medical bills that won't be covered under the health insurance and a mountain of other things going on, house payments, car payments, etc.. Plus the fear of the unknown. Although, with faith, trust in the medical team, strength, love and the support of the family we will make it through. We have already received support from family, but I know this will be a journey for us.

We are heartbroken that he has gone through so much this past year, but we are tremendously hopeful that he will fight this and recover. We will do everything in our power to help Armando, be there for him, and support him in any way possible. We have met as a family, and all know our responsibilities, including researching the variety of sources of available to cancer patients and their families and we are looking into that now. We recognize though, that we may not be able to provide all that he will need financially during this time, therefore, we thought we would set up a go fund me page as so many of our friends and family who have asked and wish to help out. We are honored by the love and support. Sometimes it takes a village, and we need to let others in to help with the mounting load. We are very prideful people, and would not be asking you in this manner, but so many of you have reached out.

We thank you so much in advance for your help. Thank you so much for your love, the support and more importantly all of the prayers. God bless you! “Fig Strong" !
