Support Art That Heals with TheatreWorkers Project ✨

Support TheatreWorkers Project this Giving Tuesday!

At TheatreWorkers Project (TWP), we believe that every human being has a story to tell. Since our inception in 1983, TWP has been dedicated to providing opportunities for members of underserved and unheard communities to tell their stories through the mediums of theatre and film.

Our journey began in the repurposed Steelworkers Local 1845 Union Hall, following the closure of Bethlehem Steel in Vernon, California. There, we collaborated with unemployed steelworkers, shipbuilders, and other laborers to create performances that illuminated pressing social and political issues.

Over the years, our mission has expanded to include individuals experiencing incarceration, formerly incarcerated adults, and at-promise youth. Through our programs, participants engage in physical theatre, improvisation, and writing, culminating in original pieces that reflect their unique life experiences.

Consider Deon Whitmore, who joined TWP's Project Re/Frame Ensemble six years ago. Encouraged to step outside his comfort zone, Deon pursued higher education, graduating in 2021. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, "I began to see the potential in myself... TWP gives you that voice and that space to tell your story."

By supporting TWP, you empower individuals like Deon to find their voices and transform their lives. Your donation enables us to continue offering these life-changing programs, fostering personal growth and community connection through the power of theatre.

In the spirit of giving and generosity, we ask that you make a gift to fund our heartfelt work, empowering these inspiring human beings to use their personal stories to create art that heals.

In Gratitude,
Susie Tanner and the TWP Team
