Help Artemis and Ryann Move into a Stable Home
Donation protected
Hi everyone! I want to thank you for your incredible kindness in seeing me through so much over the years. Ryann and I would not have been able to stay sheltered, keep our beloved cats, and find a place to live last year on such short notice without your help. We cannot express our profound gratitude enough.
So, why are we hosting another fundraiser to move again?
Last year’s move was a surprise for us because we needed to get out of our old place quickly due to mold in the building making Ryann severely sick. When we moved here last year, the goal was to find something close to where we were living but with better medical access. Seattle is relatively close to Olympia, where we were living beforehand.
Seattle has proven, to nobody’s surprise, to be exorbitantly expensive. As a result, I’ve had to keep asking for help with small expenses to get through the past several months. Everything from rent to the laundry machines is costly.
This upcoming move is different in several important ways. The first is we’ve had more time to plan and prepare, as this is not due to a medical emergency. The second is that our destination is out of state, where the cost of living is significantly lower than it is here in Western Washington. The third is that we are going to be moving closer to some of Ryann’s family members.
Out of concern for our privacy and safety, we are not disclosing our next location publicly. It is a place where we are certain that we will be more connected, have a better chance of getting by within our means, and still have good access to medical care.
Last year, we needed a bunch of additional costs covered because we ended up waiting several weeks to find a new place. That included hotel and motel costs, a temporary storage bin, covering gas for friends who helped move our belongings, and a collection of other expenses along the way (like getting our meds from the pharmacy while we were between homes). Thankfully, we’ve been planning this move for a while before launching this fundraising campaign. Some donors are helping with the move-in and transportation costs. This significantly reduces our overall budget.
Again, we are so grateful to everyone who helped us out. We don’t want to take your kindness for granted, so this time I’m doing a creative project to help give back: Paintings. If you’d like to buy a painting from my gallery or commission a painting, message me through my Facebook page. Commissions are limited to space or abstract themes, and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the amount of time and materials I have available. Proceeds from the paintings will be put into the fundraiser as well. (Note: originally I had also said I would be selling pies locally, but I was informed of some important risks involved and have decided against this project.)
With the funds raised here, we will be hiring a moving service, getting veterinary care, medications, and travel supplies for the cats, updating our IDs, and acquiring travel supplies for ourselves.
Please consider giving whatever you can spare to help us with this move! If you can’t provide monetary support, please share the link! Thank you all so much.
