Support Ary and Ruby - Leukemia & Micro Preemie
Donation protected
On November 17th Aryanna Brewer (Scott) was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia for the second time in her life. She had a full relapse of the same cancer she had as a teenager, after 9 1/2 years of being in remission. Ary is 26 years old, a mother of four young kids (ages 6, 4 and 17 months and 2 weeks) She just gave birth to her last baby on December 19th, who she was pregnant with when receiving her diagnosis. Ruby was born at 27 weeks weighing 1 lb 3 oz and is in the NICU at UCLA.
Ary needs an allogeneic stem cell transplant which they don’t do in Las Vegas where she is from so she has temporarily moved to California, away from her husband and other three kids to receive treatment and get the transplant. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia is a rapid producing cancer that needs to be treated immediately. She spent the last couple months in the hospital at UCLA getting chemo and under constant monitoring for her pregnancy. On December 19th at 27 weeks pregnant she was rushed into an emergency C section as the baby’s heart rate kept dropping. Ruby was born weighing just 1lb 3 oz. Ary was able to be discharged from the hospital for Christmas and her three kids and husband came to California to spend it with her. She is now readmitted to UCLA and continuing treatment after a recent biopsy where she found out she still has cancer in 25-30% of her bone marrow.
The next few months will be difficult and very important for both Ary and Ruby. Ary is continuing to get treatment and her doctor’s are searching for a match for the transplant. Ruby is in the NICU and has respiratory distress syndrome and broncopulmonary dysplasia, another name for chronic lung disease. The doctor has said these are normal things for a baby her size that she will hopefully overcome with time.
Ary’s husband is the sole provider for their family traveling back and forth from California where Ary and Ruby are and Las Vegas where the other kids will be.
Please find it within your heart to donate towards this very heartbreaking circumstance to help Ary, Scotty and their family with travel and living expenses. Ary is an amazing woman who does not deserve the battle she is facing for the second time. And Ruby is a strong little fighter just like her mama. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
If you are able to sign up to be bone marrow donor, please do. It is not easy to find a perfect match and Ary will need one to survive. You can go to BeTheMatch.org to sign up to be a donor. Thank you for all your support.
