Support Asef: An Afghan SIV Recipient in Need
Donation protected
While working in Afghanistan, I became friends with several Afghan nationals that worked on base with me. These are great guys who worked diligently for America, some for as many as 15 years!
Due to working for America, they became targeted by the Taliban. The US State Department agreed they were in danger and provided a Special Immigration Visa (SIV) to one of these families (my other friends are waiting for their theirs).
This brings me to my friend Asef. He and his family were able to get to America in Dec 2024 as part of the SIV program. However, in late Jan, several weeks after arriving, funding for the SIV program was suddenly cut off and his case workers helping SIG families navigate the process were fired. Additionally, the SIV program services such as job placement services, transportation, and living expenses were all cut off.
You will notice I have covered Asef's face in the photo and there will not be any pictures of Asef and his family in this GoFundMe. He still has relatives in Afghanistan under Taliban rule and does not want to put them at risk.
While it is great news that Asef and his family made it to the US, and their lives are no longer in danger, their livelihood is still very much in jeopardy. When applying for jobs, Asef is being turned down because he lacks his own transportation. A car is the most critical piece of getting he, and his two older sons, employment to support their family. They are eager to become tax producers and start living their American dream.
I am starting this GoFundMe with the goal of raising enough money for Asef to purchase a car and cover living expenses for a few months.
If you are able, I humbly ask that you help Asef and his family launch their new lives in America.
Thank you!
