Support Asheville Muni's Post-Hurricane Recovery
Tax deductible
Much of Asheville's historic Municipal Golf Course was destroyed by Hurricane Helen's flooding. We are Friends of Asheville Muni (501c3) and we are a group leading a funding campaign to benefit the rebuilding of course and its operation that are not going to be covered by other disaster recovery funds. This 1927 Donald Ross designed course is famous for originating and hosting the longest running Black owned and managed golf tournament, The Skyview and has served as community asset to the people of Western North Carolina for almost 100 years.
The flooding of the Swannanoa River was tragic for the community, in many ways with loss of life and property. It destroyed the Muni front 9 that was recently renovated. Now, the course, which has influenced and helped grow the game of golf for many is facing its biggest challenge, and Friends of Asheville Muni is working closely with City of Asheville and the Commonwealth Golf to find funding and bring the course back to operation and glory as soon as possible. These funds will be used to assist the course rebuild including design and construction while also encouraging Federal and State Funding for this massive project. PLEASE HELP.
Watch the 2020 documentary "Muni" below that tells the story of the course.
