Support Asheville's Small Business Owners
Donation protected
Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic damage to Asheville and surrounding areas in Western North Carolina. Many buildings and homes were washed away by floodwater or damaged by falling trees and debris. Even those whose businesses and homes were undamaged by the storm are unable to work. Since there is still no running water in most of the city and surrounding areas, many area businesses have remained closed.
My name is Beth and I live in Asheville. I know many people who are not working right now because their place of business was destroyed, because there's no running water so they can't open, or because tourism (which Asheville's economy relies on) is at a standstill. I'm raising money to give to self-employed and small biz owners who are unable to work at this time to help them cover their monthly expenses or purchase new supplies that were lost or damaged so they can get back on their feet.
All donations will go to businesses like:
- Makers who worked out of River Arts and have lost inventory, shops, and equipment
- Hairstylists who can't work because there's no water
- Food makers who lost inventory when the power went out and still can't produce due to no electricity or water
- Those who support and rely on tourism (which there's none of during peak tourism season)
All funds raised will go directly to soloprenuers, freelancers, or those businesses with a very small team (think 1-2 employees) in the WNC area who aren't included in other GoFundMe campaigns. I will update this campaign for transparency once donations are made.
While I am being affected by the storm (I have no running water right now), none of the money raised will go towards my expenses. I am one of the lucky ones who can still work right now.
Transparency Update:
Donations have gone to the following:
- The Autrys (husband and wife photography team) to replace equipment lost in the flood
- Amy Rose (hairstylist) who was out of work due to no water
- Lumen Concierge, a tourism-based business
Please consider giving. No donation is too small.
