Support Aubrey’s Fight Against Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Our names are Liz, Mary, and Tim - we are long time friends and neighbors to the Norton/Dixon family. We write to you to ask for your support during this difficult time filled with uncertainty, change, and pain for our dear friend Aubrey. We are reaching out to Aubrey’s community, friends, and family to come together to show support and love for Aubrey as she continues to heal and begins treatment for cancer. Being one of Aubrey's oldest friends, Liz has been in constant communication with Aubrey, her boyfriend, and her parents since this health saga began.

Aubrey began experiencing severe headaches in August. Out of an abundance of caution, Aubrey went to the doctor to seek relief for the headaches. After completing tests, the doctors discovered that Aubery had a lesion on her brain. The doctors recommended that Aubrey undergo brain surgery to remove the lesion and to conduct further testing. Aubrey underwent major brain surgery on August 27th.

Despite the high likelihood of complications due to the nature of brain surgery, Aubrey came out of the surgery fighting - as she always does! She spent 4 days in the hospital with the constant support of her dedicated boyfriend and parents. Aubrey returned home on August 31st and continues to recover from her surgery.

Following the surgery, Aubrey was informed that the lesion was in fact Glioma - a cancerous brain tumor. The doctors did their best to remove as much of the tumor as possible, but at this time, we cannot be certain that the surgery was entirely successful. Aubrey’s doctors are working on a full treatment plan to fight the Glioma and kill the remaining cancer cells.

After Aubrey has healed from her brain surgery, she will begin treatment for cancer. As a result of the surgery and treatment, Aubrey has been unable to work and will not be able to work for at least another month.

Aubrey is no stranger to long-term medical conditions. She was born with a congenital heart condition and had to have open heart surgery as a baby to repair a hole in her heart. She had a second heart surgery 18 years ago to replace a valve in her heart. While Aubrey’s heart is going strong, she will likely need additional surgeries in the future to replace the valve. This new diagnosis has added another long-term medical treatment to Aubrey’s life.

If you are able, please consider donating to help ensure that Aubrey has the means to continue taking care of herself, focusing on her treatment, and recovering without the constant worry of sliding into debt. Aubrey is a worker and a fighter! She has worked hard to support herself and has lived on her own since her early 20s. Now it’s our turn to help provide Aubrey with some peace of mind and financial security as she fights this cancer!

The donations from this fundraiser will go toward medical bills and support the loss of wages from Aubrey’s leave from work.

Aubrey, her boyfriend, family, and friends thank you for your support!
