Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, Aung Zarni passed away tragically on March 7, 2020, at the age of 47 from a sudden heart attack. Aung was a tireless advocate for the Burma communities both here in the U.S., Myanmar and Thailand. He was a wonderful, kind soul who continually gave to those in need. He was part of the Burmese pro-Democracy political group 8888 and was also a community social worker, working days and nights. For the past few years, Aung had explored new business ventures with a restaurant business and driving for Uber. He continued to do interpretation work for community members. Aung was the sole breadwinner for his family.
Aung’s wife, Nang, a stay-at-home parent, now faces the challenge of parenting alone with two sons ages 9 and 2 in the incredibly expensive Bay Area. She is also currently undergoing chemotherapy for her breast cancer treatment (stage 2).
The family was completely unprepared for this. Due to the overwhelming nature of this sudden passing, we are coming together as a community to support Nang and her two children. Please consider supporting the family to cover medical, funeral, and living expenses during this difficult transition. Your funds will allow Nang to be at greater ease as she continues her cancer treatment and adjusts to this new reality including finding a job.
With community support, prayer, love and hope they can begin the long journey of healing and rebuilding.
