Support Avery County's Recovery from Hurricane

Hi! My name is Stephanie Hughes. I am from Elk Park , NC and have lived here my entire life. My hometown and many other areas surrounding ours was devastated by flooding caused by hurricane Helene. I am organizing this fundraiser to raise funds through a song I have written entitled “Muddy Waters” to benefit the people of Avery County NC ! This includes Newland, Minneapolis, Elk Park, Elk River, Spuce Pine, Beech Mountain, Banner Elk, Linville, Crossnore , Sugar Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Seven Devils, Foscoe, Valle Crucis, and Grandfather.

All money donated will go directly to families in need in Avery county to provide needs such as housing , home repairs, bridge repairs/builds, culvert installations, driveway repairs, transportation, clothing, food, gas for generators, propane heaters and fuel, etc.

Many lost everything in the flood. Many didn’t have flood insurance or insurance to cover a mudslide ! These people are hurting and do not know how they are going to start over . Times were hard before this happened , and now it’s worse.

Some, once denied by insurance, can apply for help through organizations like FEMA however many of the people who are applying are being denied and those lucky enough to be approved are recieving less than ideal amounts that simply aren’t enough to start over much less replace all of what they lost.
