Support Ayden's Fight Against Seizures

Donation protected
My sweet Ayden was born 14 years ago. His childhood consisted of hospital visits, procedures, and uncountable doctor appointments. Throughout the years, my precious Ayden was diagnosed with autism, epilepsy, hypotonia, learning disabilities, and sensory issues. We have struggled for years trying to control his seizures. When we thought we had them under control, they would just return worse. Sunday, November 3, 2024 started out like any normal weekend for us. My mom wanted to have Ayden stay over at her place for a few nights. As she drove off with him, she sensed something was off. As she was talking to him she noticed he wasn't responding to her. She turned around to look at him mere minutes into the drive when she noticed his eyes were rolling back and fluid coming out of his mouth. Ayden's body was twitching and my mom didn't know what was happening at that point. He had briefly stopped seizing and slumped over to the to the side and then another seizure promptly ensued. My mom turned around to bring him back to me and then Ayden fell completely over in his seat and had another seizure. When my mom reached my driveway, I ran to the back door where he was sitting, opened it, and started to check on him. He had begun to have another seizure. My brother called 911 as we were trying to keep Ayden safe during his seizing. By the time the paramedics showed up, Ayden was not very alert. They put him in the ambulance and my sister decided to accompany him on the ride to the hospital while I followed behind in my car. When Ayden reached the hospital, he was very dazed and confused and not understanding what had happened. The doctors were very concerned as Ayden was not becoming alert in between seizures. They ran a whole bunch of blood tests and we learned that Ayden had had at least 4-5 grand mal seizures. My family sat, prayed, and hoped for Ayden to return to his baseline. The doctors kept him at the children's hospital overnight for observation. Ayden was sent home today on rescue meds and other medications to keep his brain calm until his medication levels could stabilize. Ayden is to be monitored around the clock as they say more seizures are possible. That Sunday was the worst condition I've ever seen my son in and it was truly heartbreaking because there was nothing I could do to make it immediately better. Ayden's condition at this moment is very critical, and he will require someone to be at home with him until his condition improves. After a long discussion, I will now have to take family leave from my job so that I will be able to attend to Ayden and get him back to where he needs to be.
