Support Azhar: Help Him Achieve His Goals

Nu'man b. Bashir reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: "The believers are like one person; if his head aches, the whole body aches with fever and sleeplessness."

From this hadith in Sahih Muslim, we can infer that Muslims are one body in compassion and are a brotherhood. Here I am, asking you so that we can help our brother who desperately needs funds to continue his education in India.

His name is Azhar Mahmood, and he is a 20-year-old man pursuing his dream of obtaining a degree in Chartered Accountancy. He has aspirations of becoming a businessman in the future. His father is a mason and his mother is a housewife. He looks after his brother in Class 9 (Freshman in high school) and helps him with his schoolwork. Mahmood completed his secondary education with outstanding grades and passed his foundation-level examination at the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). Mahmood is planning on taking the intermediate level of his exam, which is the second stage of the course he is pursuing. Once he passes it, he plans on getting internships to obtain a stipend that will allow him to support his family and continue his studies.

Now, moving on to myself—the one setting up the GoFundMe.

I created this page for Mahmood because I wanted to help a brother. I know how difficult it is to get funding for schooling. My parents are both immigrants and hearing their stories of struggle allowed me to understand Mahmood's journey to get an education. As of right now, his fees are 80,000 INR (roughly 952.73 USD). Azhar needs to pay examination preparation fees (textbooks, guidance, classes, additional study material) to pass this exam.

If any other fees come up, I will be sure to update the "goal" and keep in touch with you. I will be transparent with the money transfers since GoFundMe doesn't currently support India. The transfers are to be done within Remitly, and if something changes, I will update and keep in touch, InshaAllah.
