Hi, my name is Azza H. Elamir, and I am a Sudanese student who has been accepted into the M.A. program in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. Due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, I am facing significant challenges in funding my education.
This opportunity and M.A. program perfectly align with my academic journey, deeply rooted in my passion for understanding and addressing the socio-political challenges of my home country, Sudan. I hold an undergraduate degree in Sociology, Anthropology, and Political Science from the University of Khartoum. My entire educational and professional career has been profoundly shaped by my commitment to addressing critical social issues such as violence, poverty, and illiteracy. My research has focused on the factors contributing to Sudan’s civil wars and rebellions, including the roles of government, rebels, and militias. This dedication has not only driven my academic success but also fueled my impactful work in civil society.
However, the ongoing conflict in Sudan has made it extremely difficult for students like me to pursue further education. The war has forced the closure of over 10,400 schools, leaving 19 million children without access to education. Currently, I am in Uganda, having fled the conflict in Sudan. Here, I continue to support my family while striving to achieve my academic goals.
Despite these immense challenges, being accepted into the M.A. program in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Bayreuth is a dream come true. I am incredibly fortunate to be among the select few who have been granted this chance to further my education and enhance my ability to contribute meaningfully to my community and beyond.
However, the financial burden of enrollment fees, language courses, living expenses, and other essential costs associated with my studies is overwhelming. This is where I humbly seek your support. Your generous contributions will enable me to cover these expenses and fully immerse myself in my studies. This program is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will equip me with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to my community and beyond.
Without financial support, my dream of furthering my education is at risk. I am reaching out to you, the global community, to help me overcome this hurdle. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Your support will enable me to continue my research on the Sudanese state, its militias, and societal resistance, and to bring back valuable insights that can help in the struggle for Freedom, Peace, and Justice in Sudan.
Thank you for your kindness and solidarity during these challenging times. Together, we can make a difference.
