Support Baby Jade's Fight Against LCDH

Jade Adelyn Morel was born on April 15th 2025 at 11:25am. Her parents Paola and Jaison have been anticipating her arrival and praying for her health due to the fact that a few months into her pregnancy Paola was informed that Jade was struggling with CDH. From the moment she arrived, she has shown us what it means to be a true fighter. Jade was diagnosed with LCDH (Left Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) and is currently bravely battling through one challenge after another. For those of you that don't know CDH, or congenital diaphragmatic hernia, is a birth defect where the diaphragm (muscle separating the chest and abdomen) don't close completely, allowing abdominal organs to push into the chest cavity. This can lead to various issues, especially with the lungs, as they may not develop fully. While left-sided CDH is more common, right-sided CDH is also possible.

The first 24 hours are critical, especially with the possibility of ECMO (a form of life support). So far, we’ve been blessed to avoid that step, but every hour remains uncertain. Jade is sedated, but she responds to our gentle touch with tiny wiggles that give us hope. Her carbon dioxide and oxygen levels remain unstable, requiring constant testing, frequent blood draws, and transfusions.

April 16th has been particularly tough, with an unstable morning and a room full of doctors using words that felt overwhelming and foreign. Her little body is working overtime, and while it’s all expected in the early stages, it’s still heartbreaking to witness.
