Support Baby Kennedy’s Heart Warrior Journey

On March 11th, 2021 sweet Kennedy came into this world at just 29 weeks gestation. Her attitude already has shown that she has a lot of fight in her!! There is still a lot of risks... Kennedy was also diagnosed on her 20 week anatomy scan with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). The doctors told her parents that in order to have the best outcome, given her congenital heart defect, she needed to get to 38-39 weeks gestation. So, her coming prematurely was beyond scary for her parents who of course were fearful she would not be strong enough to make it. Also, to think just 3 years prior her brother was stillborn at 27 weeks. This can’t happen again.
Heather had a placental abruption and by the grace of God, she was in the hospital for high blood pressure and being monitored when it was obvious that Kennedy was in distress and had to be delivered. There are many hurdles that need to be jumped, many mountains to climb, and many prayers that need to be said. Kennedy is doing much better than expected, but she will need to grow in order to get her heart surgery. Fixing her heart defect will require multiple surgeries as well, probably 3-4 surgeries. The doctors have prepared Heather and Mark for at least a 9 month NICU and cardiac ICU stay for baby Kennedy. She is currently at a hospital in DC because that is where the cardiac surgeon who cares for HLHS babies is. The hospital expenses and bills will be astronomical, but you also add in time needed off of work for the parents, and travel back and forth and finances quickly become one of the main stressors. They are willing to do anything and everything they can to bring their daughter home. I want finances to be the least of their worries! No donation is too small, even $1 and a share helps!!
