Support baby Millie & the Lake family

The Lake Family needs our support. Their 9-day-old Millie has been being treated in the PICU since Wednesday.

On Monday, February 10th, Krystle had noticed that Millie was not acting normal. She brought her into the hospital and had her checked out which resulted in being sent home that same evening.

Krystle continued to watch Millie closely over the next couple of days. On Wednesday, February 12th, Krystle believed she was witnessing Millie have seizures. She immediately brought her back into the ER and demanded that they run a CT scan.

The scans came back with devastating news.. Millie was diagnosed with two brain bleeds, one on each side of her brain. This prompted their local hospital up north to send her to the U of M Children's Hospital in Minneapolis by Life Flight.

When Millie arrived at U of M they immediately started running labs and did an MRI. The MRI showed consistencies of what was shown on the CT scan. They continued to look into her brain bleeds and what may be causing them. Over the next 24 hours her seizure episodes continued to worsen. Krystle told the doctors over and over again that she was witnessing seizures every 30, then every 20, and then every 5 minutes. The doctors were not convinced by what Krystle was telling them and continued to deny that this was in fact what was happening.

Krystle had been in the hospital earlier in the week, due to extreme pain while recovering from giving birth. She was treated for an infection. At this time the doctor could not confirm exactly what was causing the infection, but prescribed antibiotics to Krystle. Thankfully she was feeling 10x better the following day after being on the antibiotics. On Tuesday, February 12th Krystle had finally received results from her Placental Pathology Report that had been completed after her pregnancy and birth complications. This revealed that the infection Krystle was being treated for, was actually an infection from her amniotic fluid. Finally, Krystle had answers to why she had been in such extreme pain for a full week.

This now raises concerns for Millie having an infection. Krystle advised every doctor that came into Millie's room of the findings of her Placental Pathology Report. She wanted the doctors to be 100% certain that this did not affect Millie in any way. Krystle and Nathan continued to advocate for and research everything they possibly could for Millie. They found that Millie could have possibly had a case of Neonatal Sepsis that could have now progressed to this terrifying state. Finally the doctors listened to Millie's parents and she is on a very strong antibiotic. They are hoping and praying that this is something she can recover from.

Her brain bleeds are being closely monitored and reports have shown that the bleeds were due to the rough delivery method used by the delivering doctor.

Millie has a long road ahead of her and at this time there are many unknowns as to what the future will look like. Krystle and Nathan continue to be by her side, monitoring her closely and advocating for her everyday.

I kindly ask that you keep the Lake family in your thoughts and prayers. If you are able to make a donation it is greatly appreciated. I want to ease their burdens, and do all that we can to support their family and baby Millie! Thank you for any support given at this heartbreaking time.
