These sweet souls are Bubba, Babs, and Bonnie -- they are survivors. Sadly, they have been attacked, abused, and mistreated.
Their stories are heartbreaking, but it's important to share. While we never know the exact path our dogs walk before coming to us - their wounds speak for themselves. The term "bait dog" carries a lot of weight and has a lot of implications. Many being that the dogs are broken or aggressive. This couldn't be further from the truth for Bubba, Babs, and Bonnie. They have experienced so much pain yet have the most gentle and soulful dispositions.
Bubba and Babs were found together roaming around a rural part of Nashville where they were believed to be dumped. They are covered in wounds, many of them deep old scars that won't ever fade. Bubba has the worst of it. He walks with a limp and has open wounds all over his body. We suspect he has injuries that may require surgery, but we won't know until further examination.
Bonnie came in separately. She was also covered in wounds, losing a large amount of blood, and was in immediate need of a blood transfusion. She may have a blood disorder and will need extensive testing to figure out what is wrong and what is needed to get her healthy again.
Truthfully, 2022 has been an incredibly challenging year for our team. Medical costs have continued to soar - over 25% higher than 2021. While our volume is high, our team is small and we are a rescue that relies solely on donations to continue our work and things have been slow lately. We've made a goal to raise $15,000 to help save these pups that are in desperate need of rescue in addition to several other extensive medical cases we've been asked to take on. Since January, we've provided 4 orthopedic surgeries, 1 severe parvo case, 8 heartworm cases, 10 severe mange cases and many more, resulting in over $50,000 in medical bills. We want to continue our life-saving work, but we also want to be transparent that we need your help.
Please consider contributing to Bubba, Babs, and Bonnie and the other medical dogs in our care today. You can visit the link in our bio to donate, or Venmo @ WagsNash.
Thank you so, so much.
