Support Four Worlds Bakery & Health Care Workers

Four Worlds Bakery is small bakery in West Philadelphia in business for 12 years.  I am Michael Dolich, owner of the bakery.   All of our cafe and restaurant wholesale orders were cancelled as their businesses crashed; so did ours then as we depend on supplying cafe and restaurants with daily fresh, hand-made croissant and bagels.   We kept baking though and baked off our existing inventory of prepared croissant but they had nowhere to go.  We decided to get them to the front lines and maybe others would help with the costs.  So we went here, to GoFundMe. 

The bakers quickly locked down the bakery and self-isolated socially; adopted strict protocols onwho could enter and cleaning rules.  I am not allowed in because my wife works in hospital as midwife.  So here I am at home with 2 kids, running the bakery from home.  The bakers organized andtook over the bakery, with my blessing.  

Due to support here, we have re-started croissant and bagel production and baking them  for this campaign.   And we continue a modest production if sourdough bread to our local coop grocery store.  

Our idea is to set up a network to delivery these fresh baked goods (croissant, bagels, bread) to front line health care workers, care givers, nursing homes, and other groups who are swamped and stressed dealing with the Corona Virus.  These groups are symbolic for all those who are moving around, at risk, for the benefit if others.   There are many out there who want to support these heroes but not sure what they can do.    By supporting this campaign, you help a small bakery stay open, keep the staff working, and support our health care workers and others. So they feel appreciated.    We fight the virus with compassion; benefiting others is the remedy to fear and anxiety that swiftly travels with the virus.  

This campaign is to determine if this idea is feasible and potentially expandable.  Funds from this campaign will be used to (1) have guaranteed sales for the items so we can get back into production and stay open long enough to determine a more sustainable business model, and (2) pay a person to set up distribution network and logistics.  Any funds extra will be used to broaden the network to include other small, neighborhood bakeries adversely affected by the current Corona crisis and, of course, benefit more front-line workers.  All funds will be transferred directly into Four Worlds Bakery commercial checking account and spend in accordance with this story.  

We are all in this together.  Please support us as we navigate this new world we now live in.  The truth is gradually settling in:  we have to create a new normal in a rapidly changing world.  Thank you for considering this.
