Have you ever wanted to support a local eco-feminist initiative in Brussels? Well… now’s your chance!

BarBichette is a membership-based community of committed individuals who want to change local and wider society, to realise our eco-feminist values and see a better life for everyone, with an emphasis on centering the voices of those who have been historically most marginalised and disenfranchised. We aim to be inclusive, truly intersectional, hopeful and accountable to this aim.

Since its founding, BarBichette has been a concept centred on community building and organic growth, and based on our key eco-feminist values. In January 2023, we opened the doors to BarBichette’s first location in Saint-Gilles where we held many gatherings and events, and welcomed our first members into our community. Since September 2023, we moved from our space and became a mobile community, holding our get-togethers all over Brussels. What started small in Saint-Gilles has grown into a Brussels-wide community of over 150 members strong.

So, where do you come in?

As a grassroots eco-feminist organisation, we rely entirely on community support to keep our activities going and accessible to all. Every contribution helps us to:

Host events in diverse locations across Brussels with different groups and speakers
Create inclusive spaces for dialogue and action
Organise actions where possible
Keep membership fees affordable

We need your support to keep our dream going and keep expanding our reach and community! As many of us know, funding opportunities for small feminist organisations are few and far between. We also want to ensure that our funding represents our values and our community. So we are launching a digital fundraiser to try and cover the basis of our costs for the coming year with a goal of €2000.

We believe in transparency, so here’s what we’re fundraising for:

€750 to cover venue rental across Brussels to hold our events in diverse locations
€750 to cover future speaker costs
€500 to cover some of our operational costs (insurance, communications, etc.)

Your support helps us build a more sustainable and equitable Brussels, one neighbourhood at a time. Any money raised beyond this goal will be invested in further ecofeminist events or the initiatives by ecofeminist allies - as we strive to grow as a community and together create an empowering movement supported by many hearts and hands!
