Support BBCRC: Upgrade Our Beloved Boxcar Venue

*My name is Jake, and I am writing this GoFundMe (as a board member) on behalf of Black Butte Center

for Railroad Culture, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.*

Hey friends! Have you ever been to a music show in our 1919 Sacramento Northern wooden boxcar

venue at BBCRC? If you have, you know how fun and raw and wholesome and reckless they can be! If

you haven’t, you’re sorely missing out! Don’t fret… the place isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

However, the boxcar needs some love and we are currently fundraising (e-spanging!) and seeking

donations for a new and improved sound system!

Since 2009 hundreds of musicians and bands have played the Black Butte boxcar, in front of

thousands of people. In the process, it has become a much-beloved, community-building venue. Many

musicians and visitors have told us it is one of their favorite places anywhere to see and play shows.

The sound system we currently use was donated to us 15 years ago and has since been kept going with

various repairs, borrowed equipment and last-minute patches. Even though it has been a champ throughout all of the years, and has had more bands/musicians shred thru it than CBGB and the Gilman combined, it is

time to retire the old system!

I, personally, have used the current sound system on many occasions, and each time I use it, I have run

into a new issue. Typically, quick troubleshooting yields satisfactory results, usually because I had to

scab and patch different variations of cables and/or input/outputs. All of us at BBCRC would love to

alleviate these troubles! With a new sound system, using newer technologies, all we’ll need to do is

press the “power” button, “mic check 1-2 1-2”, adjust levels accordingly, and let ‘em rip!
