Support Beccah's Battle Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Rebeccah Glass-Lowe has the kind of laugh that fills a room.
It echoes.
It is infectious.
And there’s a tumor currently trying to steal it.
***
I’ve known Beccah for over 25 years. She is aunt to my three kids, godmother to one, and one of the best sisters-in-law a person could ever ask for.
She is family.
And she is facing a massive uphill battle and needs our support.
***
In late May, Beccah was attending batting practice for her oldest kiddo and suffered a major seizure caused by, what doctors would later discover, a brain tumor. She received immediate care and spent nearly a week in the hospital in recovery while undergoing testing.
After testing, Beccah was diagnosed with a Grade 4 chemo-resistant inoperable glioblastoma.
But she is so much more than her tumor.
Beccah is wildly intelligent. She’s currently a social studies teacher at Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar, Indiana. And she's a former history teacher at Scecina Memorial High School in Indianapolis. She has impacted the lives of hundreds of students over her years in the education industry. And she’s the kind of teacher that everyone secretly hopes to have – infusing her teaching with humor and a straightforward love of history that is impossible to fake.
Beccah has always loved the outdoors – spending time hiking in both local and National Parks, and passing that love on to her boys. She’s an avid reader and crafter and lover of live music. She is a beloved wife and a daughter and a sister and friend. She improves the lives of everyone around her simply by being present.
There is no way to distill the essential heart of a person down into a few sentences, but if you’ve ever been lucky enough to be in a room with Beccah for even a few minutes, you know how brightly she shines, and how essential it is to keep her with us for as long as possible.
Beccah is currently exploring her clinical trial options – all of which incur additional costs to the family: Travel to the trial itself, Cost of staying in a different city, Cost of additional treatment, not to mention covering the day-to-day costs of supporting a family in this challenging time.
We’re asking you to please consider donating to help offset the costs of Beccah’s treatment.
Just like Beccah, your life is most likely tearing you in a million different directions each day. We are all mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers and sons and daughters and teachers and learners. But not all of us are battling a life-threatening cancerous tumor on top of all of that.
We have started this GoFundMe account to help support some very loved members of our family. If you’re able to help support them in the form of a donation, please know that you’re offering a piece of your daily freedom to Beccah – allowing her to focus on getting the best care possible, while battling a life-stealing diagnosis.
