My name is Beckett Butler, and I'm an amateur filmmaker with experience going back quite a few years, working on projects like "Alternatives", a short film submitted to the Kent County Teen Film Festival and won an award for "Best Green Screen", as well as a 30-minute short film "The Michigan Furniture Maker", which was nominated for several awards. I'm a lifelong Spider-Man and comic book fan, whose dream has always been to create a Spider-Man story that people can connect with. Around 5 years ago, in January 2019, I came up with an idea--I wanted to write, direct, and star in a Spider-Man film. And then, 2 years later, my life was marked by a loss, that really affected me and drove the film in a new direction. I decided from that moment on that "Spider-Man" would be a project surrounding themes of grief, acceptance, and identity and in a way, helps me come to terms with losses I've experienced. Unfortunately, I've had trouble getting the project off the ground, with production constantly stopping and starting these last 5 years, with it seeming impossible to make happen. However, with your help, my team of my closest friends and family can finally create the project of my dreams--and deliver a smaller-scale, character-focused Spider-Man story that the character deserves.
