Support Bella's Healing Journey After Mountian Lion Attack

Donation protected

Bella was attacked by a mountain lion outside of my Father's home the morning of Thursday, October 17th.

Bella adopted my Father and has been providing him with unconditional love and support ever since. Over the last few years, while my father did first immunotherapy and now chemotherapy to fight his second bout with cancer, Bella has been his cuddle bug, his heater when he has chills from treatment. She is so sensitive, she expresses concern when you are down or having a hard time, she helps him on steep hills and is the sweetest little girl.

After Bella and Dad got up last Thursday morning, they sat together in the recliner while Dad had his tea. Around 8 a.m., Bella, Bella Jean, as my dad is fond of calling her, went outside. Dad started to make breakfast. A few minutes later, he heard her come in and turned from the stove to see our beloved Bella covered in blood, looking sadly up at him. My father and uncle rushed her to the animal hospital. When they arrived at the ER, the staff was amazed she survived; the wounds were so grave that there was very little hope. But Bella has already defied all odds by escaping a mountain lion attack to make it back to Dad. The day after the attack, we met with the vet, and they gave her "maybe 50/50." We visited her, and she gave us one tail wag when we first pet her. She has been there for Dad through everything, given him strength when his own was faltering, and he believed in her. Over the next few days, she slowly started to recover. Bella had to stay for a week with 24/7 care, keeping her wounds clean and monitoring for infection. Yesterday, she was able to come home but needs to be brought back in every morning at 7 a.m. to have her dressings replaced and her wounds tended. Until they can fully close the largest wounds, this will have to continue, and the cost is already staggering. When Bella was in the hospital, it was about $2,500 per day plus the cost of procedures.

Bella has touched so many. We hope that her story of resilience, toughness, and love touches even more. Please share this with your community. If you are able to donate a little or a lot, every bit helps, even if you can only spare $5 right now! If you aren't able to help, please send prayers and positive energy towards Bella and Dad.
