We desperately need your help.
Late at night last week, we received an urgent message from one of our fosters: our beloved Bella Nelson had gotten into something and was behaving very strangely. Her normally slim face was swollen to the size of a baseball, blood was coming from her mouth, and she was struggling to breathe. Our director acted swiftly, meeting the family at an emergency vet clinic where it was determined that Bella had been bitten by a venomous snake.
Unfortunately, that first clinic did not have anything to combat the venom and she had to be rushed to another. Thankfully, they were able to get her stabilized and she made it through the night! The next morning, we took her to our normal vet, Creekview Veterinary Clinic and luckily, they had the life saving medicine she needed on hand and acted swiftly, which certainly saved her life.
She had to stay hospitalized for a couple of days for intensive care but responded well to treatment.
With her currently battling heartworms, Bella’s immune system was already compromised, making the venom even more dangerous for her. We are now faced with significant veterinary bills after visiting the 3 clinics and urgently need your help to cover the costs. We need to wait about a month for her to recover, and then we can start her heartworm treatment, estimated at about $800.
Any contribution makes a difference. Please share this message with everyone you know and keep Bella in your thoughts as she recovers. Thank you all for your support!
