Support Ben Solomon's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Bernice Solomon and I’m starting this fundraising campaign regarding my husband, Benton Solomon, of 30 years. and counting. He is loved so by his family and friends and is known as a loving husband and father, a hard worker, and a man of God with a heart of gold, always willing to lend a helping hand. Ben led a very successful career working for GM as well as selling timeshares until his health declined. Ben has always been the main provider and my support. A testament to his family dedication was in 2020 I had a stroke and my husband made sure I had the care I needed while providing unconditional love and support. He assisted me with my therapy and to this day he places my needs before his. I want nothing more than to provide my husband with the same love and support during his time of need. I want him to focus on getting well and not have the worry of finances hanging over his head since neither one of us are working.
In 2016, Ben was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery removing a cancerous nerve four lymph nodes. A series of radiation treatments were administered and subsequently, our praise report was the cancer was in remission.
Unfortunately, in 2019, the doctors discovered the cancer had not only returned but it was stage 4. Ben underwent 5 additional radiation treatments, and the cancer went into remission once again.
In 2022, Ben’s PSA levels began to rise, and it was discovered the cancer had metastasized to his bones (L3 in spine). As a result, Ben started a clinical trial to assist with the treatment he was already receiving... However, there were multiple challenges that took place during the clinical trials. He developed congestive heart failure and COPD and had to leave the clinical trial. Despite the circumstances, Ben’s determination and will to live continues to keep him pushing forward despite what appears to be setbacks. A new clinical trial has recently been offered through MUSC Hollings Cancer Center and Ben has successfully completed his first treatment last week. This trial offers very promising results, and we are thanking God in advance for the miracle He is going to perform in my husband’s life. Ben’s illness prevents him from working now and I have medical limitations due to the stroke I had a few years ago making it challenging to keep up financially. Our medical expenses have accumulated greatly as we juggle surgical expenses, current hospital/medical visits, copayments for his cancer treatments which include but not limited to his medical and specialist visits, trips out of town to and from the clinical facility, additional fees from the specialist, prescriptions and our medical insurance premiums. Our finances have taken a major blow as we are now living on a fixed income and the medical costs are overwhelming. We fully believe that our God is greater than our problems and He is in the healing and blessing business. We also know that he will place people into our lives to be a blessing in our time of need. We are asking for any assistance that can be provided as we weather this storm. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. We trust and believe that the current clinical trial will be the best fit for Ben and our praise report will be that God has healed him.
Thank you
