Giving Tuesday, the largest day of worldwide, is December 3, 2024. Please donate to Berks Sinfonietta on Giving Tuesday and help us make a difference.
Founded in 2014, Berks Sinfonietta is Berks County's only continuously operating chamber orchestra. We focus on mentorship and include both local professionals and students who collaborate and learn from one another within the context of a paid ensemble. We bring new and unusual music to our audience, and we intentionally and regular introduce them to music by female, non-white, and living composers. We also actively collaborate with other performing arts organizations, including choirs and opera companies, as well as diverse venues including Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. Annually we perform seven concerts, serve well over 100 musicians, and 1,000+ audience members, and perform the music by 20-25 different composers of all backgrounds and styles. Berks Sinfonietta's mission is to:
1) Expand the appreciation, and promote the art of classical music in Berks County.
2) Create an environment for intergenerational mentorship through music making.
3) Creating a diverse and inclusive organization that reflects the community we serve, from our board, to our orchestra members, and to the music we perform.
4) Develop an enriching educational experience for performers, students, and audiences.
5) Build community among players, between the orchestra and audience, and through interaction with the community at large.
Your support enables us, a local professional orchestra, to educate and entertain local audiences and continue to enrich the arts and cultural fabric of Berks County. We intend to do this as we have the last 10+ years, i.e., by performing new, diverse, and some traditional works at a high level, and doing our best to make our concerts and the music we perform accessible to all.
Beyond that, we further believe that investing in local musicians pays dividends for the entire community. By paying musicians a competitive stipend to perform with us, they are incentivized to perform with us, bringing great music and refining their talents locally. In turn, those musicians perform with other local groups, which local audiences also enjoy. The result is an entire community lifted by this cycle, whereby musicians, performing arts groups, and audiences thrive.
Thank you for your support and we wish you every good thing,
