Support Bernie's Surgery

My best friend Bernadette needs surgery to help keep her ability to walk. My canine life partner tore the CCL muscle on her right leg last week; now she painfully experiences her shin bone sliding up through her knee every time she takes a step. I am still recovering from the cost of surprise $6,000 surgery Bernie had 3 months ago. I could really use the help of the community to support her surgery's cost.

 

Bernie is 12 years old. Over the years, her walking has become impaired by hip dysplasia and arthritis. Unlike other dogs who may keep the ability to walk without surgery, Bernie is still recovering from the same surgery on her other leg 3 months ago. She can only take a handful of steps and cannot stand up for more than a few seconds. I carry my big 70 lb girl up and down three flights of stairs at our apartment multiple times per day whenever she needs to go potty.

 

Bernie became the light of my life seven years ago when I adopted her from New Leash of Life rescue in Chicago. She loves cats, dogs, car rides, sleeping in the middle of the bed, and peanut butter. Her favorite thing was long walks outside, now she settles for netflix + cuddles with me and the cats.

 

I will do anything for my baby girl. Her surgery is scheduled for Feb 3, one week after my birthday. My big wish is that friends, family, and generous spirits help keep her walking for many years to come.
