Beth Continues to Fight

Hello all friends, family and community! We are Samuel and Clairissa McCormick, the children of Beth McCormick. We are launching a GoFundMe campaign to seek help from the community. Considering recent medical emergencies and updates, we are reaching out for financial assistance to support our mom, who has been battling Stage 4 Head & Neck cancer, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, since July 2022. A little background on the battle our mom has been fighting: Beth underwent surgeries to remove the cancer and lymph nodes, followed by aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatment. During this time, she stayed at the Family House near the hospital. Our mom was diagnosed with "failure to thrive" and needed to receive inpatient care until March. Since returning home in the spring, Beth has made slow progress but has faced ongoing complications, including a chronic oral infection. While she was approved for Social Security Disability, the monthly amount is insufficient. Beth has been working on recovering and doing some part-time work to supplement the disability payments She is facing significant unplanned expenses and is struggling to keep up with bills. As of the end of September, we learned she must continue fighting cancer, with treatment details pending. Additionally, she still has a benign brain tumor that requires a neurological removal survey, which has been delayed due to complications. Further down the line, once that surgery is able to be completed, she will eventually need oral/maxillofacial surgery. As of the day after Thanksgiving 2023, Beth was admitted to the ICU with severe internal bleeding. She received a blood transfusion that got her out of the critical category, but a long road remains. Our mom is now at home but is back to traveling to the Hillman Cancer Center daily as her wonderful team works on treatment plans. Our mom and family are in dire need of support during this challenging time. We thank you in advance for any assistance and support, both in prayer and financially. With a little help from many in this village, the prayer is that Beth can gain some relief and cover living expenses for a while as she devotes her energy to fighting.
