Support Education and Health of school children in Kenya
Donation protected
Hello, I am Tim Rutten
All proceeds raised through this crowdfunding will contribute directly to Education and a Healthy Environment for Primary School Children in Kenya.
From February 13th-23rd, I will be volunteering at the Kariba Road School Nakuru Kenya with the International School of Hilversum. Together with other IB students from my school, I am raising money that will be used to help out at local schools in Kenya.
Eliud Kipchoge, the first man to run a marathon in under 2 hours, personally supports my project.
As a goodwill gesture, at least 500 euros will be donated to the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation if the goal of raising at least 1000 euros is reached!
The Eliud Kipchoge Foundation strives "to give all children in the world access to knowledge and education." According to Eliud Kipchoge: “Education and a healthy environment are key factors for development. In a sustainable healthy world, people can breathe.”
For More Information:
My name is Tim Rutten. I lived in Africa for over 7 years; in Congo (Kinshasa) from 3-6 years old, and in Nigeria (Lagos) from 6-10 years old. I enjoyed living in Africa because of its beautiful nature, warm climate, and mostly its cheerful people. It was surprising to me how happy and kind everyone continued to be, despite the tough conditions many endured.
I have been a passionate long-distance runner since I was 10 years old, running thousands of kilometers, training 6 days a week, and racing distances ranging from the 400m to the marathon (which I ran in 2:59:21).
While living In Africa, I witnessed a lot of inequality of opportunity for primary school children, many of whom were my age at the time. Kenyan student-athletes face many barriers in pursuing both academic and athletic prowess. Nonetheless, young Kenyan athletes run with unbelievable passion and dedication. Sadly, many of these young kids struggle to find a balance between school and sports. The odds are often set strongly against them, and many of them find themselves forced to sacrifice either academics or athletics in the process.
My Goal
My goal is to assist local schools in Kenya in their mission of providing young Kenyan children with some of the opportunities that kids from more prosperous countries like the Netherlands and the United States have grown accustomed to. I truly believe that small differences have big consequences.
With your support, I hope to make a positive impact in the lives of Kenyan students.
All proceeds will be sent to my mom Ida Ruttens’ bank account. From there, all funds will be distributed to contribute directly to education and a healthy environment for primary school-children in Kenya.
If I reach my target of raising 1000 euros, at least 500 euros will be donated to the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation @https://www.eliudkipchogefoundation.org/.
I will continue to keep you updated as to how the money is being used in Kenya. Thank you for your generosity and support
