Support Bexs (Rebecca) Delmar in Beating Cancer!
Donation protected
This is Bexs. Bexs is 22yo. Bexs has cancer, and needs your help.
Bexs (Rececca) grew up in Ladner, went to Hawthorne and DSS School and was very active in the local community, sports and especially the Scouting movement.
On February 28th, 2024 Bexs (they/them) flew home to Vancouver early from their vacation with grandparents, due to extreme back pain. Once Bexs landed, they immediately went to Vancouver General Hospital Emergency Department where they waited days, undergoing many scans and tests. After almost being sent home, Bexs bravely advocated for themself and doctors ultimately admitted them for further tests. Six days later, Bexs was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, an aggressive childhood cancer that affects the bones and soft tissue.
On top of facing an initial fourteen rounds of chemotherapy, Bexs has also had to make major fertility decisions with lifelong impact, all while enduring excruciating pain and processing the trauma of diagnosis.
Bexs can no longer work due to pain and will be receiving chemotherapy for the better part of this year, followed by further treatment (surgery or radiation). Having worked in service and retail, there are no company extended benefits or long term disability plans to assist Bexs with their continuing living expenses (rent, utilities, food, phone, etc.) as well as their fertility plans.
Bexs will be applying for federal disability funding but needs help bridging the gaps while they concentrate on fighting this disease.
Please help us ease Bexs’ financial burden so they can focus on healing. Any and all donations would be immensely appreciated.
