Support Bill & Kitty After Eaton Fire

I’m Carolyn and I’m raising funds for my dearest [and longest] friend Delores (Kitty) Lee and her husband William (Bill) Lee, who safely escaped and had to leave behind their home due to the recent fires in Altadena.

Bill & Kitty have been married for 61 years. They moved to Altadena about six decades ago and raised their three daughters in that house. A home they would love to go back to when it is safe. And only then, despite the insurance company saying they can return “now,” without water, without electricity, and no cleanup in their area has begun.

Bill & Kitty, like many, have a long road ahead. One that has been made more challenging due to Bill’s health. Bill is blind, in a wheelchair, and in need of constant care. When they first evacuated, they were able to stay with their daughter for a week. While it was nice to be with family in the immediate aftermath, they needed to find different accommodations, as her daughter’s home was also being occupied by her son-in-law’s mother, stepmother, and sister who is totally dependent on others for care. They relocated to a hotel, then to an Airbnb. Being away from their home and in unfamiliar spaces is making it very difficult for Kitty to care for Bill. They are currently on a list awaiting an opening to move into a Senior Living facility closer to their daughter.

Any funds raised will go towards their temporary housing, as well as to pay for a nurse to come in and help care for Bill, giving Kitty some relief. Funds will also help alleviate future moving costs when they eventually get into the senior facility, as it will be unfurnished, and they will be starting from scratch. Any little bit will help them in making decisions as they navigate this next chapter. If you’re not able to give, sharing this fundraiser with others will also help.
