Support Bindu Bajwa and his family

We’ve created this Go Fund Me page in order to seek financial support for our cousin, Gurbinder (Bindu) in his time of grief. Our cousin, Bindu, lives in Canada while his parents live in India. In the last couple of months, his dad – Gurcharan Singh Bajwa – was showing symptoms of dementia but also showed signs of resilience as well as having quite a bit of life left in him. Consequently, Bindu decided to fly his parents out to Canada. This would allow him to spend several weeks with his parents, while giving his kids (aged 5 and 9) a chance to better know their grandparents. Most recently, Gurcharan’s health started showing signs of decline while his dementia continued to progress. Therefore, Bindu decided it was time to bring his parents back home where they could be comfortable. In early March, Bindu was ready to fly back to India with his parents, but just as they were about to board the plane, Gurcharan lost consciousness. In this emergency, the family were forced to miss their flight and rush to the hospital. At first, nothing was too serious – the initial diagnosis was a case of low sodium, and everyone thought he was going to be okay; however, shortly afterwards, things took a turn for the worst. Gurcharan caught the flu while still in the hospital. In his already fragile health, the flu would eventually take Gurcharan’s life. Gurcharan passed away surrounded by loving family on March 7th, 2020. Unfortunately, this isn’t the end of this family’s hard time. Since Gurcharan was not a Canadian citizen, his medical bills from his time in the hospital are not covered by Canada’s healthcare system. He was rejected for medical insurance due to dementia, so, Bindu and his family have racked up roughly $20,000 in medical bills – and that doesn’t even include the cost of a funeral. Now, we certainly don’t know many people that have $20,000 to spare without damage to their financial stability, and Bindu and his family are no exception. They already have the passing of their family member to deal with – we hope debt won’t be something else on their mind. Therefore, we are asking you for a donation to help alleviate this financial pressure that Bindu and his family are facing. Any amount is appreciated - big or small, we appreciate it all.
