Support Bird in Hand's Recovery Efforts

On August 14th, Bird in Hand (an independently owned, small business/bar and restaurant) was hosting the Harlem Democrats for drinks in the evening after their Harris-Walz fundraiser 10 blocks away.

The evening was disrupted by Pro Palestinian/anti-Israel protestors who surrounded the bar, harassed and harmed the staff of Bird In Hand, invaded the property (and did not leave when asked to leave), set off smoke bombs (destroying the property) and trampled the outdoor area causing thousands of dollars of damage.

The right to protest is protected and allowed as long as it does not cause harm or damage to property or people. In this instance, this was not a protest, but a scene of chaos and destruction of an NYC business.

This fundraiser has two parts:

1) To help Bird in Hand with repair and maintenance costs of furniture and other parts of their bar that were ruined/destroyed during this terrible incident.

2) To raise tips for workers (Front of House and Back of House) who did not receive any last night as the bar tabs were never closed out when they needed to find a way to get the guests out of the bar and close down the space. Additionally, some of the workers experienced traumatic moments (hair pulling, harassment, etc) and we want to ensure that any other costs they might need afterwords are covered.

***The owner of Bird in Hand (Matt) has granted permission for us to start this GoFundMe for his bar and team. He will not be taking any funds and all will be used for the terms above.
