Hi! We are residents of the Pine Hills area of Albany who recently stepped onto our porch to find an orange cat shivering, curled up on our rocking chair, bleeding, and drooling from the mouth. We rushed him to the emergency vet where he was evaluated, which cost an unplanned $500. Unfortunately, he had a broken tooth and has a painful oral disease where the cat's mouth becomes allergic to plaque on their teeth, tongue, and gums. This is called gingivostomatitis, and the recommended course of treatment is removing all of his teeth. After that, he can go on to lead a very full life! He will need to always be an indoor cat and receive soft food for the rest of his life. The removal of all of his teeth is quoted at around $2,000.
He is only 1-3 years old, and we have taken him into our home with open arms and would like to care for him. He's very sweet and loves attention, and especially loves kneading blankets, which is why we've decided to call him Biscuit. Biscuit also needs to be neutered. If anyone would be able to pitch in a little bit towards helping Biscuit live a happy, safe, indoor life in our home, we would appreciate that so much! Thank you!!
