Support Black Families: Debt Relief Fund

**This is a fundraiser to assist and support in paying off the financial debt for the selected Black Families. All funds raised are deemed a gift and will be used strictly as such. NO goods or services will be exchanged or provided for your payment here at any time or for any reason. And all of the recipients for this initiative have been selected. There is no application process for new recipients at this time. ***

Hi, I’m Monique Melton and I’m so glad you’re here!

Short story: I have created an initiative to help pay off the combined debt of the selected Black families. Your contribution here will go directly into the pockets of these selected Black families to pay off their debt. The type of debts include student loans, medical expenses, taxes, mortgages, credit cards and so on.

There are no strings attached—simply give here and the funds will be used to support Black families in becoming debt-free. It’s simple yet so powerful. These funds are NOT for business purposes; they are not allocated for ANY business and will not be used for any exchange of goods or services. This fundraiser is for the community and is not affiliated with any of my business or professional endeavors. This money will be used to pay off debt for Black families.

Longer story:

Nearly every day, I dream of having the opportunity to relieve Black folks from the stress and strain of financial debt. I know so many people who are struggling to make ends meet and how their entire world would change if they had some significant financial relief.

I personally know what it’s like to only have $5 in your checking account, maxed-out credit cards, and still have time before the next paycheck. And while every Black family has unique needs, it’s important to know that Black folks are owed a tremendous debt—one that can never fully be repaid. We cannot go back in time and prevent the tremendous harm from ever being done, and we certainly cannot bring back the many lives and dreams lost as a result of generations of oppression. We can make a difference to repair some of the harm done to the Black folks living today, and that can be done in many ways, and wealth redistribution is one of them.

When we consider the massive amount of wealth that folks have been able to amass from the abuse and exploitation of Black folks that has its origins in slavery and continues today, it’s important to know that wealth redistribution is an integral component towards repair, resistance, and liberation.

Wealth redistribution is something any person can do, while often it is those who have the most who do the least.

I’m inviting folks to commit to contributing to this initiative to relieve Black folks from the weight of heavy financial debt. I already have the Black families I want to support this year—I just need you to do the supporting. And that’s where I’m counting on you. Big or small contributions are welcome; everyone can’t do everything, but everyone can do something.

About the Black families being supported:

I will not be sharing the specific names or information about the selected families as I don’t think this is necessary for the work. Plus, I want to respect their privacy, and it’s important that people practice wealth redistribution without needing to control or police it. And because integrity is important to me, I will say that one of the families you will be supporting to eliminate debt is my own, as Black liberation is for me too. The type of debt that will be paid includes various bills related to housing, education, medical and so on.

OUR BIG GOAL:

The goal is to raise 2.5 million dollars this year and that will go directly to multiple families to support them in paying off debt such as mortgages, student loans, medical expenses, credit cards and so on. Your support is going to be shared directly to pay of the debt for these families.

I am raising funds that will go to families I am related to through community and my work. These are people I have talked to and know will be using the funds to repay their debt Some of the funds will also go to me for debt relief.
