Support Black Women Facing Retaliation & Layoffs!

Color Of Change's mission is to make America a less hostile, more humane place for Black people, but laying off marginalized Black people during a recession as a retaliation tactic in response to numerous reports of workplace harassment demonstrates that caring for Black people’s well-being isn’t a priority for the organization.
In the late hours of the night on Sunday, April 9, dozens of Color of Change (COC) employees were sent an email informing them that they were required to attend a mandatory meeting the next morning. During the 30-minute meeting, employees were notified that they were being laid off and experienced the immediate revocation of access to their computers, personal files, and all accounts. No prior notice was given to the union or employees about layoffs, despite the union directly asking management the previous Friday if layoffs are being considered. The employees were not offered any severance and will lose their health insurance coverage on April 30. This will likely leave these employees in dire financial need. For the four employees who were actively and/or recently on medical leave and two expectant mothers, the need for health insurance is critical.
