Hi, I’m Laura, Blaze’s foster mommy! Blaze is a 2 1/2 year old Alaskan Husky (mix?) that was found wandering on 23rd Street in Panama City, Florida back in February. He has been my foster since then. He is a good boy, other than normal husky shenanigans, like being an escape artist, jumping fences, and digging holes!!!!
This past week, he and one of his other foster brothers decided to eat a plumeria plant out of a pot in the backyard. His brother was vomiting all over the place but acting normal otherwise. Blaze was just blah. No vomiting, he was drinking, just loss of appetite… so I figured give him some time, he would be ok. Well, after 3 days and still no eating, I decided it was time to go to the vet. Blaze is in acute vs. chronic renal failure. They are not sure if he will make it. Due to his young age, I want to try and at least give him a chance!!!! Several days of hospitalization and fluid resuscitation is quite expensive. I am asking for help, any little bit will do. If you can’t donate to his care, please say a prayer for him.
Update …The vet called this morning and said he had done good throughout the night and actually ate some breakfast, which he hadn't done the past few days, so that is good! Only the labs will tell us for sure and they will repeat those on Monday morning.
Update Sunday….got this message, I’m working and my phone didn’t ring
"Hey, Miss Brown, it's Jade calling from Pain Handle Veterinary services. Doctor Lindholm wanted me to just give you a call this morning for an update on Alaska. Um, he's doing really well this morning. He's eating for us, drinking for us. Um, went to the bathroom this morning and he's nice and bright and alert. Um, so we just wanna let you know that, um, but we're gonna rerun blood work tomorrow and see where his levels are at. Um, but we'll give you a call tomorrow morning after we have those results. Have a good day. Bye bye."
so more awesome news!!!
Update…. Blaze is back at home and doing well, he requires a special renal diet that is about $250/mo just for him! Also i am going to have to take him back to the vet for several visits to follow up on his blood work to make sure he is still moving in the right direction. ❤️❤️❤️
