Support Bob Drake's Battle Against Cancer

If you clicked on the link for this fundraiser, then you know Robert 'Bob' Drake. You also probably know that he has been fighting esophageal cancer, including chemo & radiation, since April 2023. He endured a radical surgery on Sept 22, 2023, with a 17-day stay in the hospital. His wife Karen (my business partner at Bargains & Treasures) remained with him during that stay.

Bob was receiving regular immunotherapy treatments and working hard to return to an active lifestyle, at least what his energy levels permitted. Unfortunately, returning to work as a self-employed contractor has not been possible.

Now, after 12 months, a PET scan has revealed that the cancer has metastasized. He is due for biopsy, port placement, and more intense chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

That is where you come in. Unable to return to work and several trips up north take a financial toll on Bob and Karen. Karen accompanies him to his doctor visits and treatments at Northwestern University Hospital. Frequent trips up north involve lots of gas, wear and tear on the vehicle, tolls. Add to that any out of pocket medical bills.

Karen and Bob are not the type of people who ask for help, but will always lend a helping hand to others. That is where I come in. I'm asking on their behalf for donations to lessen the financial strain caused by this health crisis.
