This is Wendy Webb. My precious husband Bob Webb sustained a catastrophic heart attack and stroke on February 7, 2024. The Lord set boundaries around this tragedy as Bob was on a telehealth call with his doctor when the heart attack/stroke occurred. Had I not heard the doctor calling him with no response, I wouldn’t have known anything was wrong. Desperate, I broke 10 of his ribs administering CPR with all my heart to keep him alive until the ambulance arrived. When I saw the fire truck zoom past our house I left him to flag them down. When the ENTs got to him he had no pulse. He was shocked and put on life support. There was no right side movement…and then there was — ever so slightly. The breathing tube was replaced with a tracheotomy. After the cardiologist hesitated to give Bob a pacemaker/defibrillator because he “didn’t want to waste it,” frantic prayers went up, and the neurologist assured the cardiologist that giving Bob that device was not a “waste.” It was implanted. After a 77 day hospitalization and, to date, 51 days of home health care, Bob walks, talks (always tapping into his brilliant vocabulary), reads, writes, reasons. However, both long and short term memory remain severely depleted. Confusion results. He thinks that things that happened years ago are happening now. Neuroplasticity (the brain’s magnificent ability to create new pathways) is clearly happening because Bob remembers the most unexpected details. However, his brain hasn’t healed fast enough for him to return to work. Bob’s employer generously continued paying Bob’s salary for 4 months, but can no longer do so because he had to hire someone else to address the backlog. We need to immediately either sell or rent our home and relocate. I need to find work I can do at home because I can’t and won’t leave Bob alone. This all takes time and we need help paying our bills until the necessary changes can be accomplished. I loathe making this request. Bob and I have lived our 35 years together giving joyously and with our whole heart to every need that God sent our way. We know it is far more blessed to give than to receive. We also know our God will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). He works through His people to help His people. Please prayerfully consider helping with our current great need.
