Support Bobby Tyminski's Expenses Post Heart Transplant

Donation protected
As many of you know, our dear Brother/Cousin/Father/Son/Uncle/Nephew/Friend has been battling for his life since September 2021 when he first had a massive heart attack. Quickly thereafter, he was put into a medically induced coma and put on life support. Once he was able to breathe a little better on his own, he then had a tracheostomy. From there, he underwent open heart surgery in October 2021 when he had an LVAD (left ventricular assist device) implanted.

While the LVAD did give him another almost 3 years of life, which we are all grateful for, it came with a great deal of negative side effects (unstable blood pressure, orthostatic hypotension, dizziness, fainting spells, frequent falls, and seizures) that greatly diminished his overall quality of life. It was determined that to get back an enjoyable and sustainable quality of life, the only option to get there is a heart transplant.

As we have come to learn, getting on a heart transplant list is easier said than done. During his heart transplant evaluation, Bobby had to undergo frequent lab testing, heart testing, pulmonary testing, radiographic testing, cancer testing, vascular testing, among so much more that I know I’m forgetting. The entire evaluation process was daunting in and of itself. It felt never ending, and Bobby was beginning to lose sight of the light at the end of the tunnel.

Finally in November of 2023, the amazing cardiac team at Morristown Medical Center and NYU Langone worked their magic and we learned that Bobby was officially on the heart transplant list. Since November 2023, Bobby has been living in the Kimmel Pavilion of NYU Langone, on the ICU, away from family, away from friends, and away from his number one guy - his son Zachary.

For these past EIGHT months, Bob has been an exemplar of what it means to be a fighter, to be a trooper, to take the good with the bad, and to overcome each and every barrier that came his way with grace and a sense of humor.

FINALLY, on Tuesday evening, July 9th, 2024 at around 8:30PM, Bobby received the life changing news that his incredible Heart Transplant Doctor, Dr. Nader Moazami, had found a QUALITY heart donor match - an individual in their 30s, within his height and weight range, that also has O+ blood type.

YESTERDAY, WEDNESDAY, JULY 10TH, 2024, AT 4:00PM, Bobby entered the Operating Room where his 10 hour heart transplant surgery took place. Yesterday evening, close to midnight, we got a call from the heart transplant doctor who let us know that the procedure was successful and that Bobby did great! Today, July 11th, 2024, Bobby is alert, awake, and was able to see some familiar faces of family and friends with a whole new heart!

All of Bobby’s family, friends, acquaintances, prayer warriors and everyone in between have been SO wonderful with consistent prayers, positivity, encouragement, camaraderie, strength, kindness, and love. He has and continues to receive such an ENORMOUS outpouring of genuine support.

The rationale behind this GoFundMe page is to ultimately provide Bobby with the financial support he’ll need to sustain life post heart transplant. While his health insurance will cover a GREAT deal of medical expenses, they do not cover everything. There are a number of EXPENSIVE lifelong medications that Bobby is required to take in order care of his new healthy heart. Such medications include:

1. Anti-rejection medications
2. Anti-infective medications
3. GI medications
4. Anti-hypertensive medications
5. Anti-hyperlipidemic medications
6. Medications to prevent osteoporosis

Other Costs Post Surgery:
1. Cost of transportation to and from NYU Langone for weekly cardiac biopsies, blood work, EKG, chest x-ray, right & left heart catheterization, and echocardiogram
2. Cost of eating an organic, low sodium, low fat, low cholesterol diet with a great deal of grass-fed organic protein to promote recovery and healing
3. Potential need of outpatient physical therapy
4. Major dental work

For this reason, we are asking for ANY donation, big or small, that you may be able to make. A little will go a LONG way to get our guy back to LIVING out the rest of his life with his son and loved ones.

PLEASE share this GoFundMe page with anyone and everyone you know, if you are willing!

Thank you all so much, and as we said almost THREE YEARS ago, #TheBeatDontStop❤️
