Support Brad Kershaw's Fight for Life and recovery

Donation protected
My good friend Brad Kershaw has been a police officer for over 20 years, spanning a career in patrol, as a homicide detective, and he is also a Navy veteran. He’s a great father, husband, and friend.

This story is so crazy. A couple weeks ago he suffered a workplace injury while on the job. In the process of doing his job, he suffered a bad ankle fracture that would require surgery and lots of rest, healing and physical therapy.

Unfortunately due to a delay, Brad suffered a pulmonary embolism and multiple blood clots throughout his body. Without getting too much deeper into his injuries, he is now in a fight for his life.

As a first responder, you would think that this shouldn’t happen. The injury was work related, critical care needed but delayed- the most recent update is that he is critical but stable.

Brad has been married over 20 years to a wonderful wife who is there at his side, and has two high achieving daughters, the younger is graduating HS this year and going off to college. His eldest daughter will be a junior in college next fall. I post this Go Fund Me as a friend, and as a person who believes in good things happening- I was helped out of a really bad situation 3 years ago.

I ask out of kindness, karma, goodwill, and the goodness of your hearts- to help the Kershaw family get him the best possible treatment he needs, and get him on the road to recovery and doing what he does best- be there for anyone who needs him.

Thank you for listening, and supporting this incredible person.

****added note from Pat: I updated the target goal, because I didn’t know where to first set the target. However, as we continue to get more information from his doctors and the team in charge of his care, it’s becoming clearer what will be needed/required to get Brad on the most successful path forward. This means we will be pushing and guiding him through higher and more significant levels of support.***

UPDATE 4:44 PM, 5/21- per Kim, Brad’s loving wife and mother to Tori and Julie:

“We are still in the ICU and may be moved this week to the Neuro Floor. We are trying to get Brad’s heart and lungs strong enough- so that we can leave the hospital and be transferred. The Shepard Center in Atlanta specializes in support and care for long term rehabilitation. The strokes have resulted in total short term memory loss and sadly Brad is unable to move his legs. We remain hopeful that he is young, healthy, determined, and strong, so he will be able to recover his memory and restore all of his leg function!

His daily struggles include significant chest pain from an extended period on the CPR machine, pneumonia and lung trauma. He is constantly moving from shivering to sweating due to his spinal cord injury, has burning sensations in his eyes, and in the moment becoming more aware that he can’t move or remember things.

Just please continue to pray.”

Patrick’s update: 5/25/24- I’m currently on vacation in Europe and do not have consistent internet access due to driving through Europe on a tour bus with a bunch of people. I’m so really proud to see we are near another fundraising hurdle, and I know Kim wants to update everyone again on Brad’s recent condition soon. So please- continue to support Brad, Kim, Tori, and Julie (what a wonderful hosted graduation party for Julie last Saturday!) I truly believe that all of this support for the Kershaws show their true positive impact in this world and people wanting to help any way they can. Will post that new update as soon as I can! Stay safe everyone, think positive thoughts for Brad and his family, and keep sharing this fundraiser where you can please!
