Support Brandon's Essential Shower Chair

Brandon is coming up on his two-year anniversary of injury and has lived in Michigan now for a full year. Despite being settled and stable at home, it has been an absolute disaster to try to get a shower chair covered by Medicaid. He has now been denied for a second time in an effort to get this necessary piece of durable medical equipment, and with cuts to Medicaid being proposed by Congress, we fear that this prior-authorization will never happen.

Brandon has an amazing roll-in shower in his home that he has never been able to use. Unfortunately, he has only been able to get bed baths in both the hospital and at home for the last 15 months. The last time he experienced a real shower was while he was in inpatient rehab at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in December of 2023.

This is the last thing Brandon needs to complete his list of necessities at home, and we're hoping you can help in some way. These chairs, like nearly all durable medical equipment, are quite expensive. Because Brandon has no mobility or movement below his neck, he will need the most customized version of a shower chair, with a chest strap, lateral supports, arm troughs, and a headrest - all customizations that are available with the RAZ. His chair has already been measured and customized, so if he is able to fundraise for the cost, we can tell National Seating and Mobility to start the build.
