Support Brandon's Vision for Global Health Equity

Donation protected
Dr. Brandon Collofello was a medical student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM) who graduated in 2018. During his four years of medical school, he participated in the Global Medicine (GMED) Program, a program for students aspiring to become global health leaders. He had a vision to “offer my expertise and teach basic surgical techniques to a community and work together with the community leaders to develop their healthcare system.” Continuing his aim to become a physician-surgeon global health leader, he entered into orthopedic surgery training at the University of Kentucky and completed his residency training in 2023.

At the age of 31, only a few months after completing his residency, suffering from bipolar disorder, he died by suicide. This fund is a commitment from his family, friends, and colleagues to support Brandon’s vision of building global health equity. It is our wish that his name, his work, and his dream will go on.

This fund will support UICOM students enrolled in the GMED program to participate in international fieldwork related to their global health activities, with an emphasis on global surgery, so that others may continue the work that Brandon started.
