Support Brandon's Vision for Global Health Equity

Donation protected
Dr. Brandon Collofello was a medical student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM) who graduated in 2018. During his four years of medical school, Brandon participated in our Global Medicine (GMED) Program, for students preparing to become global health leaders. Brandon's vision was to bring basic surgical techniques to community-based practitioners who could integrate them into a sustainable healthcare system.

Following his dream to become a physician surgeon global health leader, Brandon entered into orthopedic surgery training at the University of Kentucky and completed his residency training in 2023. Only a few months later, at age 31, Brandon died by suicide. He had been suffering from bipolar disorder.

This fund was born from a shared commitment of his family, friends, and colleagues to realize Brandon’s vision of building global health equity. We invite you to join with us in helping to ensure his name, his work, and his dream will go on. Please donate to Brandon's fund.

This fund will support UICOM students enrolled in the GMED program to participate in international fieldwork related to their global health activities, with an emphasis on global surgery, so that others may continue the work that Brandon started.

(For those interested in making a tax-deductible donation directly to this Fund managed by the UIC Center for Global Health, please reach out to the campaign organizer, Dr. Stacey Chamberlain. Donations made via GoFundMe cannot be provided with a tax-deductible receipt.)
