Brayden’s heart transplant expenses!!!
I’m Brayden’s aunt! Quickly starting the fundraiser and will update more specifically as we go! His mom is the beneficiary and managing funds directly.
Brayden has started the transplant process!! 16 years old!!!!
Brayden was born with a heart defect and had open-heart surgery as an infant. We knew he would require a valve replacement as a teenager. May 2, 2024 that time came.
During that valve replacement, while on bypass, air made it through the line to his brain (air embolus), where he suffered a watershed stroke. He also suffered a heart attack. What should have been a 4-day post-op stay, released on aspirin, turned into 22 days at Cook Children’s in Fort Worth Cardiac ICU.
Since his release in May, his neurological condition improved from the stroke, but his heart has continued to fail.
With his heart failure referral to Children’s Dallas, they continued to monitor and decided in late September to admit him. The transplant process is one I can’t begin to imagine or even fully comprehend.
Even with insurance, there are deductibles and maximums! Meds post-op exceed $2,500 a month. There are expenses NOW.
Before he is released, his environment needs to be sterile to eliminate threats to his suppressed immune system. The list of “no’s” is pages long. Adding expenses to ensure he will have what he needs.
Cricket and Jason are alternating time with him and all together as the process continues. There will continue to be unpaid and short pay for missed work, which adds to the financial burden. The unforeseen future is uncertain and all help, relieves some of that worry so they can focus on His needs.
Brayden is in the best spirits, optimistic, resilient, and going through the process a hero in his own story!
Please pray, share, and donate. Or any of the 3. I’ll be back with updates!!
We just needed to get this started. Bear with me as I figure out how GoFundMe works! Hopefully, I can add more photos and will navigate updates!! Share, share, share!!
**It’s on our hearts to add that we recognize in order for Brayden to receive a heart match, somebody out there will say goodbye to their own loved one.
There is already grief and mourning for the family we don’t yet know. Love and gratitude for the stranger that mercifully gives this new life, in their loss.
God bless and keep them close, Amen.
