Support Bread and Puppet's visit to Mazomanie!

On Sept. 20 and 21, 2024, the Wild Rumpus Circus will host the timely, talented and topical Bread and Puppet Theater for a two-day stop on its next national tour. The group will offer a hands-on workshop for youth through adults who will then have the opportunity to perform with the group in its latest production, The Beginning After the End of Humanity Circus.

We have been life-long fans of this this iconic company which combines whimsy with wisdom, political commentary with a profound sense of community, and art with activism. Witnessing their performances, participating in workshops and shows, and visiting their amazing home-site and museum in Glover, VT over many years has had a profound impact on our understanding of spectacle-based performance, puppetry, theater and world events. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share their work with our community, and in particular, for the youth and teens that we work with to have the experience of learning from and performing alongside them.

Bread and Puppet's fee is $8,000 for the workshop and the show. Dane Arts has generously pledged $2,500 in sponsorship. We hope to raise the remaining $5,500 through donations. We ourselves are producing the event, covering the cost of stage rental and facilities use, as well as feeding and housing 15 touring performers for 2 days free of charge.
