Support Brenda Swain - Our Community's Hero
Donation protected
Brenda Swain needs our help as she and her family deal with her diagnosis of Stage 4 stomach cancer. Her chemo regimen is just beginning and her care plan will be palliative. Your donations to this campaign will cover Brenda’s medical and the family’s household expenses on the road ahead. Travel that road with us as we celebrate Falmouth’s community hero: Brenda Swain.
For 36 years Brenda has served the community of Falmouth, Massachusetts, holding many diverse community positions. In all these roles she has demonstrated empathy, compassion, tenacity, patience, and gentle leadership, helping children and families, and neighbors in need.
For 20 years she was an early childhood educator, elementary school substitute teacher, director of a pre-school daycare center, Head Start director, and community partnership coordinator for Young Children First!.
Her community energy continued as she has served as Director of the Falmouth Service Center for the past 17 years. Locally we know that the Center is more than a food pantry and more than the Hand in Hand Thrift Shop. The Center is a place where 600 volunteers under Brenda’s leadership have created a place where Falmouth residents can be of service, and in turn, can come if they are in need of service.
Here's how you can help: Donations to this campaign will cover medical and household expenses. Judy Fenwick, former Falmouth Service Center Board president, is assisting with the medical billing and paperwork. In lieu of a GoFundMe online donation, you may send a check made payable to Falmouth Jewish Congregation, noting in the memo line: “Swain account”, and mail to 7 Hatchville Rd, East Falmouth, MA 02536. Either way we hope we can count on your support for Brenda.
