On June 13th my roommate, who is twice my size, assaulted me with
brass knuckles when he was moving out.
My neighbor called the authorities, my roommate was arrested, and I
was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
They had to Careflight me to a different hospital where they had a
surgeon to fix my brain bleed. They told us that if I had gotten to
the surgeon just one hour later, there wouldn’t have been anything
they could do. Along with having to have 45 staples in my head and
needing a ventilator until I was able to properly breathe, I have a
broken collar bone (which will need to be set in place with a metal
plate in order to heal properly), and seven broken ribs.
When his brother also moved out, things were taken that did not belong
to him, including around $500 in video games that I planned on selling
to pay bills (They also trashed the area in the garage where I had my
video game collection set up).
I can’t work like I did before (if you know me, I work a lot), and
need 24 hour care. Moving around and walking is very painful. I am
short of breath and have to walk very slow, and can only use one of my
arms since the other is in a sling for my collar bone. My memory isn’t
quite the same, and have heightened anxiety. Coughing, sneezing, and
laughing are very painful (can’t watch even watch The Office to feel
better).
I need help standing up, sitting down, leaning back, showering,
opening bottles. I need to be helped going up and down the stairs,
covering myself with blankets (I literally need to be tucked in). I
have to spend almost all the time laying down, and then when I have to
get up, my leg muscles are sore and weak.
$4500 is about two months worth of bills and expenses like rent, car
payment, and food. Any amount is appreciated, but please only donate
if you are financially able to. Even just sharing the link is so
helpful.
As things develop with surgery, the case, and general healing, updates
