Ray Snyder was and always will be Brewster. Sadly, Ray passed away on May 16th at the age of 72.
Raymond was born September 29, 1951, in Yonkers, NY, son of the late Raymond and Jean (Hamilton) Snyder. He grew up on Tonetta Lake in Brewster, graduated from Immaculate High School in Danbury, CT and on April 19, 1974, he married the love of his life Diana Estabrook in Brewster. Raymond worked for Metro North Railroad as a carmen in the Brewster Yard, retiring after 41 plus years. Raymond was a member of the Brewster Elks Lodge and lived for the Herkimer softball tournaments. He was a fixture on the Brewster mens Slow Pitch Softball league and was a basketball coach in Brewster for many years. Ray, regularly up until his passing would be his grandkids biggest fan at their sporting events. He loved to spend time on tonetta lake fishing, enjoyed golfing and not only told the best stories but always gave you his ear to talk to. He loved watching Fox News and would watch mass daily, but most of all watching his Green Bay Packers on football Sundays. He was the best coach from the sidelines at all the kids games, he was everyone’s biggest fan!
He always ended conversations with “Love ya, see you in church, give the kids kisses from me”.
Raymond is survived by his wife Diana; sons RJ Snyder and his wife Kim of New Fairfield, CT, Jeff Snyder and his wife Juilann of Brewster, NY, Scott Snyder and his wife Andrea of Malverne, NY, Bryan and his wife Kerry of Danbury, CT and Dave Snyder and his partner Taylor of Danbury, CT; brothers Russell Snyder of Brewster, NY and Rory Snyder of Dover, NY; sister Desiree Snyder of Brewster, NY and grandchildren Julianna, Kailee, Ava, Brooklyn, Gabbie, Jake, Brody, Sienna, Austin, Lani, Jaxson, Blake, Camden, Cole, Jaclyn and Kal-el. He was predeceased by his brother Roger Snyder.
Instead of flowers the family is asking for donations here so they can support the Brewster Football Program in Ray's honor.
