Support Brian Grice's Road to Recovery

Flocking Together Jaybird Style!

One of the best things about being from Jayton is that we are more like a family than friends, and we come together when someone is in need and help out. We have the opportunity to do that for our friend and fellow JHS alumni, Brian Grice.

Brian, son of Nolan and Alpha Grice and a 1983 JHS graduate, underwent a double lung transplant on May 12th of this year. The surgery was a success, and he was recently released from the hospital and into an apartment near UT Southwestern in Dallas, where he must stay for at least 3 months as his healing progresses.

After suffering with lung issues for several years that led to him being hospitalized on a ventilator and on oxygen full time, he was diagnosed with a hereditary lung disease called Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD). His lungs were so damaged from this that the only hope for healing was in having a double lung transplant. Now that he has an answer to what caused his illness, he believes that his father also had this disease, leading to his death in 1985, and that it also was a complication that led to the death of his brother, Bobby, earlier this year. Thankfully, Brian is expected to make a full recovery, for which he and his family give all thanks to God! Their faith during this trying time has been strengthened, and he and his wife, Mandy, and their children and grandchildren cannot wait to share their testimony of how God has been with them through every step of this long journey.

Brian has not been able to work since January of 2022 due to his illness, and now that he has successfully had the transplant, it is uncertain when he will be strong enough to return to work. He and his family need to be focused solely on his recovery and not have to worry about the financial strain that all of this has put on them. This is how we can help! First and foremost, we can pray for Brian’s continued healing and that he is able to regain the health that he has lost as he heals. He needs to be able to take in enough nourishment to gain weight so he can gain strength. Secondly, we can share of our financial blessings so that he, Mandy, and the kids are able to focus on his healing. Please pray about how you can help.
A bank account has been set up at The Bank of Texas in Jayton in Brian’s name. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to him.
